As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we enjoy celebrating holidays, as many of them remind of us of significant times- such as the birth of Christ at Christmas, and his Resurrection at Easter. This week marks such a significant time as we approach July 24th, also known as Pioneer Day, and commemorates the arrival of the first Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847.
Mormon Pioneers are a large part of Church history and we use Pioneer Day to celebrate this great history, and their faith. While the celebrations are more prevalent in the state of Utah, which also serves as headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, members around the world can be found celebrating as well.
This week we also want to celebrate and will do so by sharing our own pioneer stories. Stories of our past, found through family history searches, as well as modern day pioneer stories. We all have much to learn from those that have gone before us. Each of us have a 'Pioneer' heritage, whether members of the Church or not. We all have those that have gone before us, acting in faith, and their stories can help us to exercise our own 'Pioneer Faith'.
How have you had to exercise your own pioneer faith?
