As I sit in the surgery waiting room, waiting for the safe (post surgery) return of my eternal companion, my mind has turned to the temple and the sacred covenants that we have made there. Specifically, the covenants of marriage.
There is no greater comfort than knowing that death is not the end. We have been taught, we believe, and we know that death is not the end. Our savior, Jesus Christ, has made the ultimate sacrifice, paying our way, and giving us eternal life. All that is asked of us is to live worthily, and by the covenants we make both in the waters of baptism and within the walls of the temple.

My life would never be the same without my eternal companion here, in this existence. A balm of Gilead, however, would surely be offered by the knowledge that it would only be a physical death. His spirit would continue on the other side of the veil, and when the time came we would be reunited again. This reunion would be the result of the covenants we made kneeling at the altar, in the sealing room of the Manti Utah temple, on what seems like so very many years ago. Covenants taken seriously, and with faith that the reward for honoring them will be paid in full.
I can see no greater comfort than knowing that families are forever. My family is forever, through the blessings of the temple. There is resounding truth in the thought that you are never lost if you can see the temple.
